Nri community Donates Land to NSCDC for Training Facility, Office Complex

The Nri Kingdom in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State has donated four plots of land to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for the construction of a training facility and an office complex for its Area D Command Headquarters.

The donation ceremony took place on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Nri, where community leaders handed over the plots of land to the NSCDC.

According to SC Okadigbo Edwin, Head of Media & Tactical Ops, NSCDC Anambra State Command, the donation would enhance the command’s capacity to fight insecurity and vandalization of government assets.

The NSCDC Anambra State Commandant, Comdt. Maku Olatunde, thanked the community for their kind gesture and promised to make good use of the land.

He acknowledged the long-time support of the Nri community to the NSCDC and commended their commitment to the Corps.

Olatunde said,” This donation will go a long way in enhancing our capacity to carry out our duties effectively. We are grateful for the community’s support and promise to make good use of the land.

“This donation is just one example of your commitment to the Corps, and we are not taking it for granted.”

The donated land will be used to build a state-of-the-art training facility and an office complex to serve as the headquarters for the Area D Command, covering Anaocha, Idemili North, and Idemili South local government areas.

The President General of Nri Progress Union, Chief Dr. Anayo Okafor, expressed gratitude to the NSCDC for their efforts in ensuring the safety and security of the community.

The Regent of Nri, Prince Ikenna Onyeso, commended the Corps’ efforts in tackling security challenges and urged them to continue their diligence.

The event was attended by dignitaries from the Nri community and the NSCDC, including Deputy Commandant Akaachia and the Head of Technical Services, NSCDC Anambra State Command.

This donation strengthens the partnership between the Nri community and the NSCDC, ensuring enhanced security and safety in the region.
