A lawyer, and the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance( APGA) for Onitsha North 2 constituency, Harold Ekwerekwu, has retracted his earlier comments over the demolition of illegal structures in Onitsha embarked upon by the Anambra State Government.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday in Onitsha, the APGA candidate pledged unalloyed support and loyalty to Soludo over what he called Soludo’s mission of turning the state into a liveable and prosperous homeland.

He said Soludo had shown Ndi Anambra that he came prepared to transform the state, and that he( Soludo) deserved to be given the needed support to actualize his mission in Anambra.

Retracting some alleged bad comments he reportedly made against Soludo and the Managing Director of Anambra Physical planning Agency, Chike Maduekwe, the lawyer said he made the comment at the heat of passion following the demolition of his property at Government Reserved Area( GRA), Onitsha.

He said, ” I promise to remain a loyal apostle of Governor Soludo and to ensure that if elected to represent the good people of Onitsha North 2 constituency, I would be one of the lawmakers the governor can always count on their support for the actualisation of his administration’s mission in the state.

Mixed reactions have continued to trail Soludo’s demolition exercise in Onitsha and environs in the past one month, including the demolition of part of Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry in Onitsha owned by a fiery prophet, Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, a.k.a Odumeje.

Nollywood actress, Rita Edochie had in her Instagram post said demolition of Odumeje’s church should not be a priority for Soludo’s government, adding “Insecurity, bad roads and uncleanliness in Anambra State are there, but the first thing you(Soludo) rushed to do was to demolish Odumeje’s Church”.

In a swift reaction to Edochie’s comment, the National President, Igbo Youths for Positive Change, Chinedu Obidigwe, said Edochie was just being economical with the truth, adding, “Too bad that someone like Rita Edochie is being economical with the truth and went as far as sabotaging the good works Governor Soludo is doing in our state with blackmail.”
