Presidential Candidate of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi was mobbed by enthusiastic lawyers at the Nigerian Bar Association’s 66th Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Monday.
Obi, who was among presidential contenders who participated in an interaction session at the conference, received a rousing reception from delegates after addressing the gathering

As he finished his presentation, the hall erupted in chants of “Obi! Obi! Obi!”, with excited lawyers and other delegates cheering the former Anambra State governor.
Videos from the event showed a packed hall responding enthusiastically to Obi, while another footage showed a large crowd of attendees outside the conference venue holding up their phones and jostling for a glimpse of the presidential hopeful.
The excitement reportedly intensified after the session, as scores of delegates gathered around Obi to exchange greetings and take photographs with him.

At a point, the crowd became so large that Obi reportedly struggled to make his way out of the venue.
Supporters described the scene as “a Peter Obi day”, with one account saying the atmosphere was “electrifying” and that lawyers were “ecstatic” as Obi engaged questions on Nigeria’s governance and future.
Another supporter hailed Obi as “the man who will be President”, declaring that he had “engaged the issues with precise elucidation.”
The reception has generated considerable excitement among Obi’s supporters on social media, who interpreted the enthusiastic response as a sign of his continuing popularity among sections of Nigeria’s professional class.
Obi has continued to campaign for what he describes as a fundamental change in Nigeria’s approach to governance, with emphasis on production, human capital development, institutional accountability, security and prudent management of public resources.
His appearance at the NBA conference also gave him an opportunity to engage a professional audience with a strong interest in constitutional governance, the rule of law and public accountability.
The development has also been seized upon by the Obi/Kwankwaso (OK) movement as part of its emerging political messaging ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly its “Nigeria Will Be OK” slogan.
Obi’s participation came as presidential aspirants and political parties intensify their preparations for the 2027 elections, with the economy, insecurity, democratic institutions, governance and leadership expected to feature prominently in the emerging campaign.
For Obi, the enthusiastic reception in Port Harcourt adds another high-profile public appearance to his growing political engagements ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
