The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two members of a notorious criminal gang and declared another suspect, known as Akada, wanted.
This development follows a successful operation by the Police-led Anti-Sit-Home Joint patrol, in collaboration with Anambra Vigilante Operatives.
According to a statement by the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the operation took place on November 25, 2024, at 10 am in Nkwelle-Ezunaka, 3-3 area.
The operatives burst into the gang’s hideout, arresting two armed suspects, Chinedu Amah and Prince Nwogu, both males and residents of Nkwelle-Ezunaka.
The suspects were apprehended during a hot chase after a victim raised an alarm, reporting that the gang had held him at gunpoint and stolen his iPhone and other personal belongings.
The operatives recovered one English-made pistol and other incriminating items.
During interrogation, the PPRO said the suspects confessed to the crime and implicated Akada, their gang leader, who is currently at large.
Akada is wanted for armed robbery, illegal possession of firearms, and enforcement of illegal Sit-at-Home orders.
Efforts are underway to track down Akada and other gang members.
The Anambra State Police Command has assured the public that further developments would be communicated in due course.
