Popular Awka comic character, Aiza Nwosu involved in accident, rushed to hospital

Popular Awka comic character and public information announcer, Aiza Nwosu was on Friday morning involved in an accident.

Nwosu who is very well known around Awka is a comedian who drives around his announcement vans in the city, and always laden with multiple loudspeakers, with which he blasts music.

He has severally been described as a jolly good fellow, who is problemless, just as many see him as a funny character as he sometimes parks his car by the roadside with loud music, and takes time to dance to it.

Nwosu was on Friday morning involved in a car crash at Aroma junction, while driving one of his vans.

A source who was around during the crash said his vehicle hit some road users, including a tricycle rider, and that he and about three persons involved in the crash have been rushed to the hospital.

When THE RAZOR arrived the scene of the accident, officials of Awka Capital Territory Development Agency (ACTDA) were seen dismantling some of the music equipment attached to the vehicle, to avoid being vandalized.

Onlookers at the scene declined interview from journalists, but an ACTDA official who spoke to THE RAZOR simply said he cannot explain how the accident happened.

“We just got here. We were in the office when we were called to move fast about this emergency. I cannot explain how it happened.

“We know that Aiza is alive and has been moved to hospital for treatment.”

The road was littered with broken windshield from Aiza’s vehicle, and as at the time of filling this story, the officials were making arrangements to tow the crashed vehicle to their office.

Aiza, even though known to be a private businessman, has recently been attached to ACTDA, and takes care of announcements by the agency, which is headed by his younger brother, Ossy Onuko.
