There was a rich display of culture on Sunday evening at the home of senior lawyer, Barr Odinaka Obiorah; The Statement House, during the new yam celebration of youths of the village.
The event was hosted for the youths at The Statement House by Obiorah, where a lot of masquerade displays showcased the rich culture of the people of the community.

Progressive Union who spoke to THE RAZOR conveyed the gratitude of the youths of Ifite Nanka.
He said: “What we’re doing here today is the new yam celebration of our brother Barr Odinaka Obiorah, and he is celebrating it with our youths. This is something he does every year for a very long time and this year’s event is extraordinary.

“The Igwe of the community had his own celebration on 13 August and Nanka had theirs as a community on 15 August, and since then every indigene is free to hold his own celebration of the new yam festival in their various villages and that is what we are doing.
“Our youths in Ifite are so happy and we are glad that Barr Odinaka Obiorah is consistently celebrating with us. The youths of Ifite are very peaceful people and we love each other and have been brothers keepers to each other. This is one of the events to bring us close to ourselves, and Barr Odinaka Obiorah has been consistent in ensuring that things are done right.

The event was a fine display of the culture of Nanka people of Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
It featured various masquerades in all shades, including peaceful and violent ones, while youths played and danced to Ogene music, with huge supply of roasted yam and local sauce laced with ukpaka and local grinded pepper, amidst exotic drinks.

The event saw Barr Odinaka Obiorah, a senior legal practitioner all about the arena, ensuring that things went well. He has remained a pillar in the community, but maintaining a very silent and unassuming lifestyle.
