Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has been named on the list of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Committee for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, in a development that raises political questions ahead of the 2027 general election.
Soludo’s inclusion is particularly significant because he is a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), a party distinct from the APC, under whose platform he was elected governor of Anambra State.
He succeeded former Anambra governor Peter Obi, who is now seeking election as president in 2027 on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), against Tinubu, the APC candidate.
The development places Soludo in a politically interesting position as the 2027 presidential contest takes shape, with his name appearing on the campaign committee of the party whose presidential candidate will face Obi at the polls.
Other prominent politicians named on the expanded campaign committee include Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke; former Ogun State governors Ibikunle Amosun and Gbenga Daniel; and former Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
Also listed are Presidential Adviser on Policy and Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman; Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo; former House of Representatives member Patrick Obahiagbon; and former Osun APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji.
Former APC National Legal Advisers, Dr Muiz Banire and Babatunde Ogala, as well as Chief Ayiri Emami, Victor Giadom and Magnus Abe, are also members of the committee.
The composition of the campaign team has been described as reflecting inter-party cooperation and a commitment to a shared vision of national progress.
In a statement announcing the list, APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, said the campaign committee would be inaugurated in Abuja on Tuesday.
Soludo’s inclusion is likely to attract attention as political alignments ahead of the 2027 presidential election continue to evolve, particularly given Obi’s emergence as a presidential contender against Tinubu.
