Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adam Obidike, has cautioned against eating breakfast too early in the morning, stating that it can lead to health challenges.

Speaking during a health talk at the Awka City Stadium, Dr. Obidike explained that hormones like glucagon and cortisol release stored glucose into the system, providing enough energy to last till mid-day.

He said,”Eating breakfast early pumps insulin into the body, shooting up blood sugar levels, and potentially leading to weight gain and health issues.”

However, Dr. Obidike exempted individuals on medication, advising them to follow their doctors’ dietary instructions.

He also encouraged people to develop personalized eating plans, including intermittent fasting or skipping meals, depending on their individual capacity.

The health talk was part of the #healthylivingwithNonyeSoludo initiative, a weekly physical fitness workout led by Governor’s wife, Dr. Nonye Soludo.
