The National Vice Chairman ,South-East Zone of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Rev. Augustine Ehiemere, has congratulated the party’s immediate past National Chairman and Chairman Emeritus, Chief Victor Ike Oye, on the occasion of his 70th birthday.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Rev. Ehiemere described Chief Oye as an exceptional leader whose visionary leadership, administrative excellence, and unwavering commitment laid a solid foundation for the growth and institutional development of APGA.
“Today, the entire All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) family across the South-East and Nigeria stands united in celebrating an extraordinary leader, an administrative maestro, and a true political pace-setter, Chief Victor Ike Oye, as he marks his landmark 70th birthday,” he said.
According to him, it is both symbolic and appropriate that the milestone celebration is being hosted in Awka by the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, describing the gathering as a reflection of the immense respect, admiration, and gratitude that the party and its supporters have for a man who devoted his intellect, energy, and resources to transforming APGA into a stronger and more enduring political institution.
Rev. Ehiemere described Chief Oye as “a leader who keeps his word,” recalling with deep gratitude the former National Chairman’s steadfast support during his tenure as APGA State Chairman in Abia State.
“At a critical period in our party’s history, political detractors reportedly offered Chief Victor Ike Oye the sum of N25 million to facilitate my removal from office. Rather than succumb to financial inducement, he rejected the offer outright and stood firmly in defence of the party’s constitution, my mandate, and the integrity of our leadership.
“His actions demonstrated uncommon courage, unwavering loyalty, and an uncompromising commitment to justice and due process. Chief Oye is a man of impeccable character who protects the party’s structure, stands by his convictions, and remains faithful to his promises.”he said.
Speaking further, Rev. Ehiemere said Chief Oye’s tenure as National Chairman was defined by visionary leadership and unprecedented institutional achievements.
“Chief Victor Ike Oye did not merely preside over the affairs of APGA; he built enduring institutions that will continue to serve future generations of party members. His administration recorded remarkable milestones in party administration and infrastructure development.”he added.
He noted that under Chief Oye’s leadership, APGA became the first and only political party in Nigeria to conceive, finance, construct, and own a permanent National Secretariat in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
“Not content with that historic achievement, he also championed the construction of a magnificent four-storey Regional Secretariat in Awka, Anambra State. These edifices are far more than physical structures; they are enduring monuments to his discipline, transparency, foresight, and unwavering determination to institutionalise APGA as a formidable political party with lasting national relevance.
“His legacy is architectural in scope, visionary in execution, and transformational in impact.” he stated.
Rev. Ehiemere further described Chief Oye as a disciplined administrator, a cheerful giver, and an honest leader whose contributions have positively impacted countless lives across Nigeria.
“Beyond his political accomplishments, Chief Victor Ike Oye is an exemplary human being. He is intelligent, focused, hardworking, compassionate, and deeply committed to human capital development. Throughout his political career, he has consistently demonstrated integrity, fairness, and an abiding commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and empowering party members.”Ehiemere stated.
According to him, attaining the age of 70 represents not the conclusion of a distinguished career, but the beginning of another phase of purposeful national service.
“At 70, Chief Victor Ike Oye remains a valuable statesman whose wealth of experience, political wisdom, and visionary leadership continue to be assets to APGA and Nigeria. His contributions have left an indelible imprint on our party, and we remain confident that the nation will continue to benefit from his vast experience in even greater leadership responsibilities at both regional and national levels.
“On behalf of the entire APGA family in the South-East, I warmly congratulate our leader, mentor, and political pace-setter, Chief Victor Ike Oye, on his 70th birthday. We pray that Almighty God grants him many more years of sound health, divine wisdom, strength, peace, and fulfilment as he continues to serve our great party and our beloved nation.
“Happy 70th birthday, Chairman Emeritus.”he added.
