What we’ll do Obiano if he failed to reverse the illegality called LG transition committee chairmen – UPP

United Progressive Party(UPP), Anambra State chapter has called on Anambra Governor, Chief Willie Obiano to immediately dissolve the the local government caretaker committee he recently instituted.

The party said it will not hesitate to drag the governor to court if he failed to heed their plea to dissolve the caretaker committee.
Obiano had Wednesday night sworn in 21 local government chairmen as caretakers with their councillors.
UPP speaking through its Publicity Secretary, Uche Amaku called on the governor to reverse the ‘purported’ appointment.
The party in a press release said, “We wish to remind Governor Obiano that a member of UPP, Mr. Ifeanyichukwu Okonkwo, had in September 2006 obtained an order of perpetual injunction against the Governor of Anambra State, the State House of Assembly and Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Anambra State from the illegal adventure of setting up a caretaker committee or whatever name called.”
The party said that by going ahead to set up and inaugurate caretaker committees for the 21 local government councils on it believes the governor’s action not only amounts to a slap on the face of a subsisting court order, but also amounts to flagrant breach of the positive order.
He quoted the earlier court order obtained by his party against the governor as saying, “That an order of perpetual injunction is hereby granted against the Governor of Anambra State from his illegal misadventure beyond their powers under the 1999 constitution with regards to the third tier of government, the 21 council areas in Anambra State.”
The party said Obiano must have taken the measure as part of his desperation for a second term in office as governor is in the hope that the illegal occupants of the 21 councils would enable him subvert the will of Anambra State.
Going further, the party gave Obiano seven days to dissolve the caretaker committees in the local government or risk being dragged to court.
