2024 Int’l Girl Child Day: Ibie Advocates Education, Empowerment for girls

As the world marks the 2024 International Day of the Girl Child, Dr. Isoken Ibie has sent a heartfelt message, calling for greater attention to the education and well-being of girls.

In her statement, Dr. Ibie emphasized the importance of education, urging governments to make schooling accessible to all girls. She praised the Ministry of Women Affairs for its efforts in rescuing vulnerable children, especially girls, and called on political women to unite in building a better country for future generations.

Dr. Ibie expressed concern for girls who are abused or forced into begging, stressing that these issues must be addressed before reintegrating them into schools.

She urged parents, guardians, and religious leaders to support girls in society, advocating for their empowerment through education. In her message, she highlighted the power of education and upbringing in shaping a girl’s future, asking the community to entrust their well-being to God and prioritize their success.

Speaking on the theme of this year’s celebration, Girls’ Vision for the Future, Dr. Ibie underscored the need for urgent action in promoting girls’ voices and protecting them from harmful influences, particularly through social media.

She noted that girls represent the hope for a better tomorrow, and society must work together to ensure their welfare and empowerment as they navigate their paths toward a brighter future.
