Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has officially declared President Bola Tinubu the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the 2027 general election.
Soludo made the declaration on Friday during the party’s campaign flag-off at Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, where he told supporters that Tinubu is APGA’s presidential candidate in the race.
The declaration represents APGA’s endorsement of Tinubu ahead of the presidential contest, even as the party prepares to mobilise support for its candidates across the country.
Speaking at the rally, Soludo, who is the National Leader of APGA, urged the candidates to embark on vigorous door-to-door campaigns, taking their message to the grassroots and explaining the party’s positions to voters.
He advised them to appeal to reason rather than emotion, insisting that political campaigns should be anchored on truth and issues.
At the event, APGA also unveiled over 253 candidates contesting various elective positions nationwide and symbolically presented party flags to 44 candidates in Anambra State.
The Anambra candidates comprise three senatorial candidates, 11 House of Representatives candidates and 30 candidates for the State House of Assembly.
The National Chairman of APGA, Chief Sly Ezeokenwa, expressed confidence in the party’s electoral prospects, urging candidates to take its manifesto to every ward and polling unit.
He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to maintaining its political dominance in Anambra, describing the state as APGA’s stronghold.
The symbolic presentation of flags to the 44 Anambra candidates formed the high point of the campaign flag-off, signalling the commencement of the party’s campaign activities ahead of the elections.
