Anambra Gov Thanks PDP candidates for withdrawing suits against APGA victors
Anambra Governor, Dr Willie Obiano has commended the spirit of sportsmanship shown by 21 PDP candidates for announcing their withdrawal of their court cases against APGA victorious house of assembly candidates in last elections.
Obiano represented in a meeting held with 21 PDP candidates at Amawbia Governor’s Lodge by his Deputy, Dr Nkem Okeke, said that the gesture was worthy of emulation for all good politicians.
He added that the progress of the state was greater than the desires of an individual or a political party and disclosed that he was at home with the decision of the 21 PDP candidates when they approached him for peace as they were tired of bitterness and rancor that trails elections in the country and had decided to sheathe their swords and work for the peace of the state.
The deputy governor said that leadership is not about personal interest or political parties but about availing the people good governance adding that the development will help mobilize the desired support towards the present administration ‘s resolve to develop all parts of the state.
Okeke said that the governor through his people oriented system of governance matched his words with action when he promised to expand the frontiers of APGA .
He said that taking the level of development in the state that prospects that the party will soon witness mass decampees from other political parties.
The leader of the group and PDP candidate for Nnewi South 2 constituency , Chief Egwuonyibo Okoye said that Obiano has performed creditably in a short while based on his track record and that they decided to withdraw their cases from the tribunal to enable APGA lawmakers who emerged victoriously to give them needed support to transform the state to the next level.
He said any distraction to the government will to lead delay in the progress of the state and urged others who lost to emulate President Goodluck Jonathan.
Meanwhile , Mr Modustus Ohazulike a serving state lawmaker under PDP representing Ihiala 1 constituency who lost in the election said that he was not aware of such meeting or decision and described the alleged 21 PDP candidates as fake.
Ohazulike said that action done by the so called PDP is not recognised and maintained that the real PDP candidates who were robbed of their victory would seek redress in the tribunal.
