The rehabilitation of the Kabe road down to the road junction at Nise enroute to Ekwulobia by the Anambra state Governor, Charles Chukwuma Soludo has thrown the residents into joy. The road which is critical to reduce the traffic congestion at the Amawbia road by-pass and round about near the governor’s house has been abandoned for many years and overgrown with shrubs and thick grasses.
The importance of the road cannot be overemphasized in view of the public institutions in the area. There are private nursery and secondary school, public secondary schools, private hospitals and five star May-Roses hotel which is a boost to tourists in the capital territory.
Commenting on the road rehabilitation project, the principal of Union School, Amawbia Mrs. Celine Uzoamaka Ozomma has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the massive road projects being rehabilitated in Awka and Amawbia in the capital territory and passionately appealed for the tarring of the Kabe secondary school road to Nise enroute to Agulu to Ekwulobia.
Speaking to news men at the school during the meeting of the house owners at the area, the principal regretted the menace of erosion and deteriorating access road to the school had made it difficult for teachers to live within the vicinity of the school.
She said: “Rehabilitation of the road will open up the areas and provide access to the people building houses in the area and the residents even as the staff and students of the school encounter difficulty as tricycle operators do not ply the dilapidated road.
Mrs Ozoma who described Soludo as a solution Governor and an educationist thanked him for the employment of five thousand teachers which led to the posting of nine teachers to her school even as she passionately requested for additional teachers to man all the relevant subjects.
Also speaking to the press, the proprietor of Casrondo Hospital, Dr. Casmir Ogochukwu Onyia, commended Governor Soludo for remembering Awka and Amawbia in road rehabilitation and equally pleaded for the rehabilitation of the Kabe road to Nise which will reduce the exasperating traffic snarl at the Amawbia cum Government house junction especially during the festive periods.
“God has used Governor Soludo to recognize the need to rehabilitate roads in Awka and Amawbia within the capital territory. The inhabitants in this area which include the deputy speaker of Anambra state House of Assembly, Hon. Pius Chukwuma, are in serious trouble as erosion is threatening many newly built houses. The rehabilitation of the road will ease the suffocating traffic congestion at the ever busy Amawbia cum Government junction down to Agulu.
