The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, has praised the founding fathers of the state for their vision and contributions as Anambra marks its 33rd anniversary.
In a goodwill message, Udeze commended past and present governors of the state for their selfless service and commitment to peace, unity, and development.
He noted that despite economic challenges, the Prof. Chukwuma Soludo administration has made significant strides in road infrastructure, healthcare, employment, security, youth empowerment, agriculture, and environmental regeneration.
Udeze urged affluent citizens and captains of industry to partner with the government to boost industrial revolution and contribute to state security.
He congratulated Ndi Anambra on the anniversary and paid tribute to those who have made the state proud in various fields.
The Speaker also called for prayers for the peace and progress of the state and for the founding fathers, especially those still alive, to be granted strength and good health to continue serving as a beacon to the state and its citizens.
Our correspondent recalled that Anambra State was created on August 27, 1991, by the Nigerian government under General Ibrahim Babangida’s leadership.
However, the original Anambra State was created on May 3, 1976, from the East-Central State.
The 1991 creation was part of a broader national reorganization effort to promote development, reduce ethnic tensions, and improve governance.
