The Young Progressive Party (YPP) gubernatorial candidate in the forthcoming Anambra State election, Sir Paul Chukwuma, has praised Anambra workers for their diligence and unwavering commitment to the state’s progress.
Speaking through his media office, Sir Paul commended the workers for persevering in challenging work environments where their intellect and contributions are often overlooked, yet they continue to drive the development of the state.
“Anambra workers are among the lowest paid in the country, yet they remain some of the bravest and most committed. Despite the persistent insecurity in the state, they show up at work, dedicated to delivering the services that keep the state running. They are unappreciated, often treated with arrogance and threats,” he said.
Describing Anambra workers as the “true heroes” of the state, Sir Paul pledged that, if elected governor, he would ensure they receive the recognition and respect they deserve.
“The civil service is a critical arm of government — it is the engine room where government policies are brought to life. If elected governor, I will dignify the Anambra State civil service and make it a trusted partner. Their input will count, and they will be empowered to implement impactful policies,” he assured.
He also criticised the delay in pension payments and the poor condition of many government offices across the state.
“While billions have been spent on constructing a new government house, many civil service offices remain without running water and functional toilets. Pensions and gratuities take far too long to be paid,” he lamented.
Sir Paul urged Anambra workers to remain resolute and committed to the development of the state, assuring them that better days lie ahead. He also pledged to review the state’s minimum wage to reflect current economic pressures and to implement reforms that will improve working conditions and productivity if elected.
In conclusion, Sir Paul Chukwuma pledged to leverage his private sector experience to create a more enabling environment for businesses to thrive in Anambra. He promised to prioritise job creation and affirmed his commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of private sector employees across the state.
