~ As Nwankwo Welcomes Mrs Tinubu to Anambra
As the count down to the 2027 general elections continues, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, for Anambra Central Senatorial Zone, Hon Ferdinand Dozie Nwankwo, has been adopted by the Coalition of Igbo Youths (CIY) as their candidate for the senatorial position in Anambra Central, describing him as the best choice.
The youth group, in a press statement after their meeting in Awka, Monday, said their decision to back Nwankwo was driven by such factors as his impeccable track record of empowerment, philanthropy and care for the aged through his Dozie Nwankwo Foundation; as well as the need for the youth to take hold of their future.
The group’s spokesperson, Comrade Ifeanyi Jason Nwoye, said it was time to walk the talk of the saying that the youth were the leaders of tomorrow.
“We grew up hearing that tomorrow belongs to the youth but over the years we are yet to see that actualised. Instead, what we have been seeing is a recycling of the same old people even when they are past their prime.
“If the youth are not allowed to take leadership positions today, when will that tomorrow come? This is why, after looking at the various candidates contesting for next year’s generation elections we settled for Hon Ferdinand Dozie Nwankwo to lead the charge by the youth to secure that elusive tomorrow,” Nwoye said on behalf of CIY.
He said that Nwankwo was not just a youth but one with proven capacity, having already represented his Constituency commendably before now in the Federal House.
The group described Nwankwo as a shining light for the Nigerian youth who would lead the next generation of leaders.
“With Dozie Nwankwo we can actualise our tomorrow today. The die is cast and it is now or never,” the group concluded.
Meanwhile, ahead of the visit of Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, wife of Nigeria’s President, to Anambra on Thursday, Dozie Nwankwo has joined the state government and other party faithful in welcoming Mrs Tinubu.
In a press statement by his media office, Tuesday, Nwankwo while wishing the wife of the President to Anambra, hoped that the visit would further boost the relationship between the state and the presidency.
He praised Mrs Tinubu for what he described as her relentless passion for helping the less privileged, noting that it aligned with the activities of the wife of Anambra’s governor’s wife, Dr Mrs Nonye Soludo, whom, he said, had been reaching out to the less privileged through her programme, “Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo”.
He said it also aligned with his own passion of helping the less privileged through his Ferdinand Dozie Nwankwo Foundation.
“This visit is therefore a meeting of like minds and I’m happy to share in the joy of the August visit,” Nwankwo stated.
