In a stirring address that blended emotion with resolve, Sir Paul Chukwuma, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate in the upcoming Anambra governorship election, has pledged to lead with compassion, integrity, and people-centered vision.

Declaring his candidacy before a crowd of supporters, Chukwuma said he was not stepping forward as a mere politician, but as a “brother, a son, and a servant” to the people of Anambra.

“I have heard your cries,” he said. “And I will wipe your tears.”

The Umueri-born candidate said his decision to contest was not born out of personal ambition but of deep concern for the suffering he has witnessed across communities.

“I have walked our streets, sat with our elders, and broken bread with our traders. I know where it pains us — and I know where we can heal,” he told the cheering crowd.

Promising to prioritize good roads, quality education, reliable healthcare, improved security, and jobs for young people, Chukwuma said his mission is to “bring governance closer to the doorsteps of the people.”

“This is not a dream — it is my destiny,” he declared. “I believe in people-oriented leadership. I believe in empowering our women, educating our children, and creating opportunities for our youths to thrive.”

Chukwuma also made a vow to lead with honesty and accountability: “Let it be known today: I am not here to make empty promises. I am here to work, to build, and to deliver. I am here because I was born for this.”

As the 2025 election gathers momentum, Chukwuma’s message of empathy and purpose is already drawing attention, especially among young voters and grassroots supporters.

Known by many as Onwa Umueri, the YPP hopeful is positioning himself as a fresh voice for a new Anambra — one where, in his words, “restoration, progress, and unity” take centre stage.

“Together,” he said, “let us write a new story.
