Soludo Set to Sack Appointees

I came across this screaming headline from The Razor News that almost escaped my attention: “Top Big Wig, 7 Commissioners May Go as Soludo Prepares Major Cabinet Purge Ahead of 2nd Term.”

According to the report, the governor believes certain individuals have “overstayed” in government and should pave the way for fresh hands. And it doesn’t stop with commissioners. Sources say that several other aides—senior special assistants, executive assistants, advisers—may also be shown the door.

“He merely managed them until now. This time, the governor wants at least 80% of his appointees to be people he personally selects, so he can be fully in charge and hold them directly accountable,” the report stated.

From my own Anambra Lighthouse sources, I also hear that Governor Soludo has given all political appointees a deadline of January 2026 to submit their resignations.

Why does this news interest me? Because I have personally experienced the executive arrogance, recklessness, and abuse of office exhibited by some of the governor’s aides. Some of them having become Governor Soludo’s aides started playing ‘Oga’ and ‘forming’ busy. They won’t call and returning calls was also asking for too much. They had this warped mindset that they were now better than everyone else.

Having served in government myself for eight years at a senior level, I always urged caution in how Anambra public officials relate to Ndi Anambra—the very people they are meant to serve. I repeatedly reminded them that time flies, and that there is life after government. It is the goodwill and social capital one builds while in office that truly endure.

This news from the Lighthouse will undoubtedly shock many of them. Frankly, I look forward to welcoming those who won’t be returning to office back to the real world. Let them prepare to meet us in the street.

Some of them—particularly those inherited from the Willie Obiano administration—even turned their backs on the very man who brought them into government. They joined the chorus of voices in Soludo’s administration maligning Obiano at every turn. Utter ingrates.

And there is one individual whose exit I especially await. He once threatened to have me sacked from my federal appointment in Abuja—a job he knew nothing about and certainly did not help me secure. “I know where you work. I can get you sacked,” he boasted, after our altercation over my criticism that he had been unfair to Governor Willie Obiano.

O se ti go.
