Anambra has recorded another feat in education as a teacher from the state has emerged Africa’s Overall Best ICT-Driven Educator for 2026.
Mr Ifetike Chekwube Hope, a technical teacher at Government Technical College, Onitsha, clinched the prestigious award at the African Teachers Excellence Award Gala Night held at the UBEC Digital Centre, Abuja, on Friday, August 21, 2026.
Ifetike’s feat is not only a personal achievement but also a major recognition of the growing role of technology and innovation in education.
An elated Ifetike attributed the honour to God, describing it as a major milestone in his teaching career.
“I have the honour to appreciate the Almighty God for making it possible for me to be the first-ever winner of the prestigious Overall Best Most Outstanding ICT-Driven Educator in Africa.”
The award adds to what has already been a remarkable year for the teacher.
In January, Ifetike was named Overall Best Performing Teacher in the South-East at the National Teachers Summit.
His latest achievement has also placed the spotlight on technical education, showing how teachers can combine practical skills with digital innovation to make learning more relevant to students.
From the classroom at Government Technical College, Onitsha, to the continental stage in Abuja, Ifetike’s story underscores the changing face of teaching, where digital skills, creativity and practical knowledge are increasingly becoming vital tools for effective education.
