The Labour Party (LP) in Anambra State has described Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, as a reference point for good governance in Nigeria, citing his administration’s reported achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, education and fiscal management.
The party stated this in a congratulatory message signed by its Anambra State Chairman, Peter Chukwunulu Okoye, ahead of Otti’s campaign flag-off scheduled for Sunday, November 1, at the Umuahia Township Stadium, Abia State.
The statement was dated October 31, 2026.
The Anambra LP chapter, which congratulated the people of Abia State on the occasion, said Otti’s administration had recorded significant progress since he assumed office on May 29, 2023.
It particularly highlighted the governor’s reported completion of 414 road projects covering more than 800 kilometres, including Port Harcourt Road and Ohanku Road in Aba, Aguiyi Ironsi Boulevard in Umuahia, Omenuko Bridge and the Umuahia-Uzuakoli-Abiriba-Ohafia Road.
The party also noted that another 82 road projects were nearing completion, while the introduction of electric buses and green shuttle services was aimed at improving transportation and economic activities across the state.
On fiscal management, Okoye said Otti had reduced Abia’s inherited public debt profile by more than 70 per cent through what it described as disciplined financial management.
In the health sector, the party said the administration had recruited nearly 1,000 healthcare professionals, revived primary healthcare centres and general hospitals, and allocated approximately 15 per cent of the state budget to healthcare.
It further cited the recruitment of more than 5,000 teachers in a single exercise, alongside plans to upgrade schools into smart schools, as part of the administration’s interventions in education.
The party also commended the governor’s reported investment in technology-based enterprises, artificial intelligence, software engineering and cybersecurity training for young people.
On workers’ welfare, the Anambra LP chapter said the administration had maintained regular payment of salaries and pensions, while introducing what it described as a transparent and merit-based civil service recruitment process.
It also listed technology-driven surveillance and security partnerships among the measures adopted by the Abia government to address criminal activities.
Describing Otti as its national leader and an ambassador of the party’s ideals, the Anambra LP chapter said his administration’s approach to governance reflected the principles of productivity, prudence and people-oriented leadership.
The party wished the governor and other participants a successful campaign flag-off, while praying for journey mercies and a hitch-free event.
