The Nigeria Policy Institute, United States of America (NPI-USA) has assured the Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo of assistance to his government.
The group on Wednesday stated its preparedness to financially and technologically support infrastructural projects of the Anambra State Government while assuring its contribution to progressive changes needed for effective and productive governance of the state and Nigeria at large.
In a statement by its Executive Director, Chief Jimmy Asiegbu, the group appealed to Governor Chukwuma Soludo to work with Diaspora indigenes of the state, including setting up accounts where they could donate their contributions.
While praising Soludo’s approach to insecurity, especially curbing down cultism, kidnapping, killings, drug abuse, among others, the group said the governor had undeniably demonstrated his capacity of fulfilling his campaign promises to the citizenry.
It hailed the Governor for cleaning up Okpoko, Awka, Onitsha and environs, as well as closing tax loopholes and revenue misappropriation in the state.
The statement read in part, “Despite the meagre resources in the treasury and from the federal allocations, the Governor has embarked on these infrastructural project. There is no question that these projects cost money.
“It is a welcome development that Anambra indigenes in the diaspora are pitching to support Soludo’s projects, and we urge other indigenes living abroad to emulate this gesture.
“We also urge the Governor to surround himself with good advisers who will tell him the truth and suggest the best approach to solving the problems of the state.
“NPI-USA has confidence that Soludo will work on exceeding the performance of your predecessors and make Anambra the Dubai of Africa as he has severally promised.
While calling for progressive steps targeted at attracting local and foreign businesses particularly for job creation for unemployed youths, the group enjoined residents to accord Soludo necessary support to ensure he succeeded.
