A House of Representatives member representing Anaocha/Dunukofia/Njikoka Constituency on the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Dozie Nwankwo, has declared support for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, in the February 25 General Elections.
Nwankwo who is the APGA senatorial candidate in the district in 2023 polls, said his support for Obi was based on Obi’s demonstrable competence and capacity.
This is coming as the national leader of APGA and the governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, had declared that the state would not support the presidential bid of Peter Obi.
SOLUDO had stated that rather his government would give full support to the APGA presidential candidate in the race , Prof Peter Umeadi.
But declaring his support for Obi on Monday, Nwankwo differed with Soludo explaining that it was Peter Obi ànd the Late Prof Dora Akunyili that prevailed on him( Nwankwo) to join APGA years after he ventured into politics.
He added that the LP Presidential Candidate had demonstrated commitment and needed qualities to pilot the affairs of the country creditably well.
The APGA Senatorial Candidate noted that he would work for the success of Obi’s presidential bid in the poll.
Nwankwo who described his agenda for his constituents as a pathway to a new Senatorial District, donated 27 sewing machines to support a youth empowerment scheme in the area, informing the people that he would consolidate on effective representation if elected in the February 25 polls.
Earlier, the Catholic Youth Organisation’s Leader at St Matthew’s Catholic Church, Amawbia, Mr Chizoba Ubosi, said the occasion was to complement efforts of the church in soul-winning and evangelism for the physical well-being of youths in the area.
