Five years ago, four media professionals with decades of practical experience in the field, and nothing less than a decade each of journalism practice in Anambra State under their belt came together and founded a news outfit that was dedicated solely to reporting Anambra, her government and people no matter where they may be, all for the interest and development of the state.
Within this period, the outfit has churned out thousands of reports, editorials, opinions and investigative pieces that have helped shape governance, mould opinions, influence public conduct, hold public officers accountable and educate the people.
Some oppressed persons have found justice through the reports of the organisation, falsely labelled persons have corrected narratives and set records straight, governments have been sold ideas about the wrongdoings of their officers, poorly executed projects have been brought to the notice of government and daily happenings around Anambra and those concerning Anambra people in every part of the world have been highlighted. That outfit, THE RAZOR NEWS, with the motto: Reporting Anambra Responsibly, has thoroughly lived up to every word contained in the motto.
Fierce, fearless and courageous reporting cannot be without a price. The organisation has paid its dues and has a fair share of troubles for doing so.
Security organisations have severally invited the management of the organisation, some have been followed with arrests and detention. In most cases top government officials have tried to cow and intimidate the management of the organisation into dumping stories, or in extreme cases getting them to pull down already published works, but they always fail because works are thoroughly verified before being published.
These five years of running THE RAZOR has not been bed of roses, but truth is – nothing worth while is ever easy, so these sacrifices are not unexpected, nor is the management willing to back down on them in coming years. We shall continue in this trajectory of telling truth to power, and we hope that those who our truths hurt will not see us as enemies, but as friends who wish for a beautiful society and only contributing our quotas to building the kind of society we wish for.
Through fearless reporting, we have made friends, we have also made enemies, but we dare to say that saying the truth at grave cost is better than spreading lies that will hurt the society we swore to protect.
As we celebrate our 5th anniversary on Thursday, November 19, 2026, we renew the five-year-old commitment we had made about being a platform for spreading truth instead of lies, and we will continue on this journey of educating, informing, entertaining, but most importantly holding government, organisations and individuals to account.
Society deserves to be fed truth instead of lies, and at THE RAZOR NEWS, we shall continue to do so by REPORTING ANAMBRA RESPONSIBLY.
