Anglican priest teaches parishioners how to survive Nigeria’s economic hardship

The cleric, in charge of Church of The Pentecost, Diocese of Awka, Anglican Communion, Venerable Ekene Nwafor has called on families to hold onto unity amongst themselves.

He said that the Nation is currently passing through economic hardship, which if not well handled may lead to break up of homes.

Nwafor who spoke on Sunday in Awka during Sunday service gave the word of encouragements to the parishioners, advising husbands not to take the stress of the economic crunch on their wives or children, and to avoid unnecessary cracks in the family unit.

Nwafor assured parishioners that good management of home affairs would make it easy to enthrone peace in the family.

He encouraged parishioners that the country survived the COVID-19 Pandemic, and as such would survive the cash crunch currently bugging the country.

Nwafor appealed to women to show outstanding understanding to their husbands within this period, for them to be able to run the affairs of their families peaceful.

He advised parents to watch over their children so that the devil will not steal into their families at this challenging times.

Above all, Nwafor admonished the parishioners to ensure that they perform their civic duties on February 25 and March 11 by taking part in the general elections.

The service, which witnessed the mothering Sunday launch by women of the parish, Women Ministry of the COP was fixed for April 19.

Mrs Chizoba Chukwuweike, Chairperson, 2023 Mothers Sunday committee appealed to the parishioners to use the opportunity of the launch to celebrate their wives Mothers and mother figures in their lives.

Chukwuwike said: “This year, the committee has decided to use wrapper for launching as is been considered as human face project.”

She said that the launched wrapper yielded amazing response and urged the parishioners to be there for them on the D day April 19.

Mrs Chinwe Nwafor, wife of the Vicar commended the parishioners for their massive support to women Ministry activities of the church.

Nwafor appreciated the launchers who decorated widows and women workers of the church, both those bodily present and absentees.

Nwafor described the kind gesture shown to the women ministry as Christianity in action and prayed for its sustainability.
