Anambra Election: Group Urges Youths to Shun Violence

Catch them young community intiative (CATYCOL), in collaboration with the United State Agency for International Development (USAID), and support from National Democratic Institute ( NDI), foundation initiated by Nigerian Music icon, Tuface Idibia popularly known as 2baba has took up campaign on vote not fight, election no be war.

Communicating with the newsmen during it’s senatorial town hall meeting for Anambra North youth leaders at Conference Hall, Olive guest house GRA Onitsha, Anambra State, the Executive director, CATYCOL, Comrade Nonso Orakwe said that the primary objective of the foundation is to educate people on their right during Election.

Orakwe said the foundation started it’s Crusade in August 15, 2021 on a very low key one on one campaign on vote not fight and has done much so far by engaging the youth and media in the state .

He called on the people in the state to come out comes Nov 6th to vote, “if we don’t vote, we are destroying our future and even if we did not vote, they must give us a leader”, “Is better Anambrians come out and vote for the right person because your vote is your power”,.

said, the vote not fight campaign centers on voters education level campaign and it’s been sponsored in different levels in which volunteers are working with the strategic team .

Isreal narrated that they have three senatorial cordinators, 21 local government cordinators, 326 ward cordinators with the reasons that information about voters education is catching every one to participate in the non- violent and free election.

Contributing, the Anambra North senatorial cordinator CATYCOL , Okadigbo Ogomegbunam Ifeanyi said there are electoral offences and were the worst offence or crime ever to be committed by anybody against the community, state or nation, he maintained that if election by selection process is capacitated in anyway, the final outcome will affect everyone and things including children yet unborn as the wrong person will obviously take position.

He advocates that the election process and reform that has been put in place in the Constitution should be properly impremented that the laws to the election should be obeyed not to vote more than once, don’t bribe during election, let there be no thuggery in the party arrangements during or after the election as there are laws against such.

He plead to the people to desist from electoral crime as whatever do or done affect everyone tomorrow neither negatively or positively, remind the public that one naira today is equivalent to two naira tomorrow.

He however called on the youth to always resist anyone with the intention of sponsoring them into nagative act during election but always ask them where about of their own children who were probably overseas.
