Anambra news summary: Akwa Okuko’s wife gone, Kegite busted, Ifeanyi Ibezi for assassination

News is never scarce in Anambra, everyday is a beehive of activities. Among the many that happened, here are the significant ones.

On Wednesday, Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo appointed Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah as Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Ojukwu University.

A press release by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Christian Aburime stated that Bishop Kukah is expected to leverage his global network to foster international partnerships, inspire ethical leadership in the University, and signals a commitment to producing well-rounded graduates.

From such a very beautiful piece of news, on Friday, former chairman of governing council of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University and erudite professor, Chidi Anselm Odinkalu opened a can of worms on a senior security adviser in Soludo’s government, who has also been touted to be the coordinator of the state vigilante organisation.

Odinkalu said multiple credible sources hinted him that while popular billionaire native doctor, Akwa Okuko Tiwara Aki was undergoing trial for sundry offences including misleading youths, money ritual and preparing charms for kidnappers, the official was busy taking care of his wife for him.

Akwa Okuko has been jailed and now serving his jail term in Amawbia Prison, but his beautiful wife of just a few years is allegedly living in the home of his jailers, while she makes food for him and warms his bed at night.

What a story!

On Saturday, the attack on Kegite Cultural Social Club by operatives of Udogachi hit the news. While the group was holding their zonal convention, operatives of Udogachi, the state vigilante group arrived and dispersed them, not after thoroughly torturing members and destroying properties.

One may be wont to shout – Udogachi again!

But Udogachi is not done yet. On Sunday morning, operatives of the outfit stormed Agbaja Civil Centre in Abatete in Idemili North Local Government Area where Hon Ifeanyi Ibezi was billed to hold a stakeholders meeting to declare his house of Representatives aspiration.

They sealed off the hall and thoroughly delt with those found around on the order of the local government chairman, Hon Stanley Nkwoka. Not even the arrival of Ifeanyi Ibezi who is considered a strong at the event deterred them. Infact, they threatened to shoot Ibezi if he messed up. Luckily for him he didn’t mess up, or probably he messed up and they shot at him, but two of his security aides took the bullets for him.

The Policemen are currently at Iyienu Hospital undergoing surgery to remove bullets lodged in their bodies. Ifeanyi Ibezi thinks it was an assassination attempt on him.
