Nollywood actor, Kingsley Orji, has appealed for financial support on behalf of renowned Nollywood actor, Amaechi Muonagor, to undergo kidney transplant procedure in India.
Orji, a fellow Nollywood actor, on his Instagram account on Sunday, revealed that Muonagor had recently left the hospital due to financial constraints.
He highlighted the toll the illnesses had taken on Muonagor, affecting his speech and overall health.
Orji implored fans and well-wishers to contribute towards the cost of the much-needed transplant surgery.
Orji who spoke in both Igbo and English said “It has not been easy. He has been in this condition for months now. He wants to go for a kidney transplant. What we want is for you to help us for him to travel to India.
“He just came back from the ICU in Nnewi Teaching Hospital a couple of days ago. He was responding to treatment but not very well.
“We decided to bring him home because there was no money but it is not advisable. He barely talks well. Please, he needs your help.”
The exact amount needed for the transplant surgery was not disclosed, but Orji provided Amaechi’s bank details and contact information for those willing to contribute.
In November 2023, Tony Muonagor, Amaechi’s cousin, disclosed that the actor was battling a trifecta of health challenges: kidney disease, diabetes, and stroke.
His condition had worsened, necessitating regular dialysis sessions and physiotherapy at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital in Nnewi, Anambra.
