All roads lead to Awgbu Centre Field, Awgbu, in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, this Sunday, September 6, 2026, as the bustling community rolls out the drums for one of its most illustrious sons, Chief Ernest Nnaama Ezeajughi (Ikenga Awgbu), immediate past Chief of Staff to Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR.

The grand reception, organised by the sociocultural group Awgbu Progressive Minds, promises to be a colourful homecoming celebration marking the end of Chief Ezeajughi’s remarkable four-year sojourn in the seat of power, years insiders describe as defined by “loyalty, quiet competence and an open door” for the people of Awgbu and beyond.

*A Son Comes Home*
For Chief Ezeajughi, fondly christened Nnaama by admirers, the homecoming is more than a ceremony; it is a homecoming of gratitude. Having served as the anchor of the Soludo administration’s operations for four eventful years, the Ikenga Awgbu titleholder now returns to the embrace of his kinsmen, who are leaving nothing to chance in celebrating what they call “a worthy ambassador.”

Organisers say the event will blend the rich pageantry of traditional Awgbu culture, masquerades, cultural troupes and royal pomp, with stirring tributes from friends, well-wishers, political associates and community leaders expected to throng the venue from across the state.

*Royalty at the Centre*
Adding royal colour to the day, the revered Chief E.O. Ogboo, Onowu of Awgbu, will grace the occasion as Royal Father of the Day, lending the ceremony the weight of tradition and ancestral blessing.
Dr. Odiraa Nwankwor will serve as Chairman of the occasion, while astute businessman and community pillar Chief (Sir) Okey Ezibe (Oranyelueze) takes the honour of Chief Host, a trio that organisers describe as “the perfect anchor team for a landmark celebration.”

*An Invitation to All*
The Awgbu Progressive Minds have extended open invitations to dignitaries, sons and daughters of Awgbu at home and in the diaspora, friends of the celebrant, political associates, and the general public, urging guests to arrive early as the feast of music, culture and fellowship kicks off at 2:00 PM prompt.

“This is Awgbu’s way of saying thank you to a son who carried our name with honour in Government House,” a spokesperson for the group said. “Sunday will be historic; everyone is welcome.”
