Anambra trains youths in digital skills

A-three-day Intensive training for Anambra youths in digital skills has commenced in Awka, the state capital.

The digital skill acquisition programme tagged NITDA Digital Economy and Employability Programme (DEEP) targets exposing the youths of Anambra State on ample opportunities in digital skills and ICT.

The state government through the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Empowerment Programme, Dr Nelson Omenugha is partnering the National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA to host the programme in Anambra State for the youths.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr Omenugha said that the whole idea revolves around the efforts and determination of Mr Governor, Professor Charles Soludo to equip and empower Anambra youths to become useful at home and exportable abroad.

He emphasized that the programme will not just expose the youths to the opportunities embedded in digital economy but will prepare them for successful digital employability journey.

Noting that the opportunity connects one to rich pool of learning resources and enhances self-paced learning, Dr Omenugha encouraged the participants to maximize the opportunity as it also enables them to jumpstart digital marketing and emerging entry-level roles like digital onboarding, virtual assistant among others.

He confirmed that on completion, that participants will be awarded two Certificates, one from Google and one from NITDA.

The training has over one hundred Anambra youths in attendance.
