APC Blasts Ohaneze over N 6.2bn from Jonathan
The All Progressives Congress (APC), in Anambra state has asked the apex-Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohaneze Ndigbo to return the 6.2billion naira for endorsing President Goodluck Jonathan or face the wrath of the people.
Also, the party has pleaded with Anambra state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano to pay pension to former Governors of the state to reduce hunger among some of them.
According to APC, the hunger in the homes of some ex-Governors in the state had made them become political jobbers, which the party said was tarnishing the image of the state.
Other benefits APC pleaded with Obiano to pay the former Governors in the state included retirements, medicals, security and protocols.
These were contained in a statement issued by APC on Monday in Awka, signed by the party’s publicity secretary, Okelo Madukaife and made available to reporters in Awka.
The statement said, “this has become critical to avoid a situation where past high political office holders in the state not otherwise engaged ,resort in activities and profiles unbecoming of their statesmanly status”
“A case in point is a past Governor who has reduced himself to attack dog for President Jonathan. In the past two weeks, this supposed elder, has been into media outlets attacking Igbo leaders”
“His attack did not end there, he has also called the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) without cause or shred of evident and generally engaging in the loquaciousness that no Anambra state son or daughter would wish for his or her ex-leader”
Meanwhile, the party alleged that the money given to the Ohaneze Ndigbo leadership by the presidency for endorsement came in two batches of 1.2 billion and 5 billion naira respectively.
The latest amount, APC alleged was shared by the leadership in one of the hotels in Enugu.
“The statement said, “This singular event is responsible for the intractable crisis in the leadership of Ohaneze today which has made the body unable to agree on any presidential candidate to adopt”
The party said it was unfortunate that instead of the Igbo group looking for how to settle those displaced in the North East and the people collecting their permanent voters cards (PVCs), the leadership was busy tearing itself apart because of pecuniary interest.
“We however, seize this opportunity to ask the clique in Ohaneze who collected billions of naira and shared same in Enugu to gather the money back from everyone who got a share in it and return to the source”
“Tell the source that Ndigbo are not for sale and apologize to Ndigbo for allowing their hands to be caught in the soup pot” APC wrote
