Bomb explosion rocks awka polling unit

An early morning explosion has rocked a polling unit in Awka at Atom Umuokpara primary school, Awka ward one.

Elekenews gathered from resident of the area on arrival that the explosion happened at 7:05 in the morning with a loud bang that sent residents of the area scampering for safety.

A community leader in the area, Aiza Nwosu said the explosion may not be unconnected with today’s election, but may have been targeted at scaring voters away.

The explosion which shattered a class room in the school also removed a window in the class.

It was gathered that an unexploded bomb is still in the class, and as at the time of filling this report, anti bomb squad was still being awaited.
