Mgbakwu Progressive Union Elects New President-general

Mgbakwu Progressive Union (MPU) has elected Mr Nwokeoma Basil Chukwukeluo as the president-general-elect of the community.

The election which took place today 28th, December, 2023, at Central Primary School, Aborgu was observed by members of Mgbakwu Ozo Title Holders, representatives of ASATU among other stakeholders from the community.

Mr Nwokeoma Basil Chukwukeluo, the president-general elect who is from Uruonaga village was one of the four contestants in an election that was keenly contested with a massive turnout of voters from Uruonaga village.

In a brief remark at the venue of the election, the transition committee chairman of Awka North Local Government Area, Hon Thankgod Anago who hails from Mgbakwu, one of the ten communities that make up of the council area commended the electoral committee for doing a diligent job.

Hon Anago also extended same appreciation to the security personnel who provided security at the venue of the election to ensure that everything went on successfully and peacefully.

The President General-elect, Mr Nwokeoma Basil Chukwukeluo in his acceptance speech thanked the government of Prof Chukwuma Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR for ensuring a credible election and promised to carry everyone along in order give Mgbakwu people the right leadership the community deserves.

He also appreciated the the Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne for his commitment throughout the electoral processes leading to the election.

Some members of the community who spoke after the election commended the electoral process and appealed to the president -general-elect to use his new office to bring unity and progress to Mgbakwu town.
