~ Urge FCT police command to investigate claims of being shot
By Ifeizu Joe
The Peoples Democratic Party, Anambra State Chapter has suspended it candidate in the just concluded governorship election, Mr Jude Ezenwafor.
Ezenwafor was at the Light House Awka, seat of government of the state congratulating the governor of the state, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo over his victory in the election, while the state executive council of the party was meeting at the party’s Secretariat to ratify his suspension.
The chairman of the party in the state, Dr Chidi Chidebe who emerged from the meeting to brief journalists said their candidate, Ezenwafor immediately after picking the party’s ticket quickly went incommunicado, refusing to hold meetings or rallies, but later announce that he had been attacked and shot in Abuja.
Chidebe who read out a communique of the state executive committee on the outcome of the election lamented that Ezenwafor sold out, refusing to campaign or calling for help from the party.
Below is a copy of the communique…
COMMUNIQUE OF THE PDP ANAMBRA STATE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ON THE CONDUCT AND OUTCOME OF THE 2025 GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION
On behalf of the Anambra State Executive Committee (SEC) of our great party. the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), I wish to first and foremost express our profound gratitude to the National Working Committee (NWC) under the visionary leadership of His Excellency. Amb. Umar Iliya Damagum, for the consistent efforts being made to rescue our great party from the grip of a gang of self-serving individuals determined to destabilize the PDP.
Your unwavering commitment to discipline, fairness, and internal reform has continued to inspire confidence among true party loyalists in Anambra State and across Nigeria.
The Anambra State Governorship Election, held on Saturday, 8th November 2025, has come and gone. The general atmosphere during the election was largely peaceful, and both the conduct and outcome were, to a reasonable extent. transparent.
However, the Anambra State Executive Committee had earlier expressed deep concerns over the disturbing conduct of our governorship candidate, Mr. Jude Ezenwafor. Throughout the campaign period, the candidate exhibited attitudes and tendencies that were not only uncooperative but outrightly destructive to the collective interest of the party.
Among the issues that previously worried the State Executive Committee were:
1. His failure to campaign in any ward, local government, or across the state throughout the entire electioneering period, up to the last date for campaigns.
2. His connivance with candidates of other political parties, particularly the APC, to deliberately sabotage the chances of the PDP in the election.
3. His unconvincing and fabricated story of an alleged assassination
4. Extortion of genuine party members, including his own running mate, and other manipulative behaviours unbecoming of a candidate of our great party.
5. His establishment of a parallel gang of impostors, mostly non-members of the PDP, among them Mr. Samben Nwosu and Mr. Casmir Ajulu to unlawfully interfere with and perform party functions.
These and numerous other acts of misconduct were among the major challenges the party in Anambra State had to endure throughout the electioneering period, following advice from respected leaders and elders of our party. The State Executive Committee in our usual character of respect for constituted authorities, swallow all his bitter pills, avoided confrontation, and patiently manage his conduct until the conclusion of the election. Ultimately, his actions during and after the election completely vindicated our earlier concerns.
On the eve of the election (Friday, 7th November 2025), When it became evident that the candidate lacked the capacity and interest to convene any meeting or campaign activity in any part of Anambra State, the State Working Committee, convened a meeting of all LGA Executives and State Executive Committee members. Officers of the party were directed to stand firm and vote for PDP candidates in their respective domains.
This collective effort was the major reason our party was able to secure a total of 1,401 votes, as officially declared, placing the PDP 6th among the 16 political parties that participated in the election.
It is on record that the governorship candidate, Mr. Jude Ezenwafor, secured only one (1) vote in his own ward, Nnobi Ward 3, Idemili South Local Government Area, a ward with twelve (12) polling units. This abysmal performance represents the worst result for PDP in any ward across the state and clearly exposes his lack of character, credibility, and commitment to both the party and the election.
Conversely, his running mate, Barr. Francis Okeke, who worked closely with the party and consistently demonstrated character, loyalty, and genuine commitment, polled 71 votes in his polling unit 004-Otuocha ward 1, as against 77 votes for the incumbent governor, an undeniable sign of his credibility and dedication to the PDP. This result is remarkable considering that the polling unit is a stronghold for APGA being the polling unit of the immediate past governor of the State Chief Willie Obiano.
In light of the above, and after due deliberation, the State Executive Committee has resolved as follows:
1. That Mr. Jude Ezenwafor is hereby suspended from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for a period of one (1) month with immediate effect.
2. That he be referred to the State Party Disciplinary Committee for further investigation and appropriate recommendations.
3. That the National Working Committee (NWC) be formally notified and strongly advised not to grant Mr. Ezenwafor or his collaborators any further access or recognition at the National Secretariat, as their activities are clearly aimed at destabilizing the party.
We remain steadfast in our commitment to uphold party discipline, unity, and the principles of internal democracy. The Anambra PDP is determined to rebuild and reposition our party under the purposeful leadership of Amb. Umar Iliya Damagum
As we converge in Ibadan for the PDP National Convention on 15th and 16th November 2025, we are confident that our great party shall, by the grace of God, regain its rightful place of strength and trust among the people of Nigeria.
God Bless PDP!
God Bless Anambra State!!
God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!
Signed:
Comrade Chidi Chidebe, PhD, FICMC
State Chairman, PDP Anambra State
