Anambra State governor Prof Chukwuma Soludo has appointed a new auditor general in acting capacity.

The new Auditor-General, Mr Charles Okocha Akosa, THE RAZOR learnt has already assumed duties, and is acting to fill the void of the retirement of the former auditor general, Mr. Daniel Okeke, over four months ago.

THE RAZOR had in a detailed investigation it carried out in October 2023, and which was published on November 15, revealed that newly retired civil servants in the state have had their pensions and gratuity stalled because of the non-appointment of an Auditor-General, who processes and makes final approval for payment.

A source incide the auditor general’s office told THE RAZOR that: “After that your investigation, the governor announced the appointment of Mr Uche Akosa as the acting Auditor-General of the state.

“I’m happy for the good job you people did, because many people did not know what retirees of the state civil service were suffering because of non-appointment of Auditor-General, but after your report, Akosa was appointed on acting capacity, and all the files that were stalled on his table have started moving.”
