ICT Agency Assesses 25 MDAs, Builds Evidence for Digital Government Across Anambra

The Anambra State ICT Agency has assessed about 25 Ministries, Departments, and Agencies as it builds an evidence-based picture of digital government across the state.

The assessments, conducted by the Agency’s MDA and Compliance Unit, span key institutions including the Ministries of Justice, Education, Agriculture, and Commerce and Industry, among others.

The team examines websites, official government emails, digital systems for records, payments, and approvals, online services, data management, cybersecurity practices, service delivery, and compliance with government ICT standards.

According to the Unit Lead, Madam Chinyelu Odigbo, the exercise is designed to determine how well each MDA is performing digitally and where ICTA needs to intervene.

“Government does not run on assumptions. It runs on evidence. These MDA visits are how the Agency builds that evidence, MDA by MDA.”

Odigbo said the exercise will enable the ICT Agency to speak with authority on the true state of digital government across MDAs and act on the findings.

Early findings indicate uncertainty around NDPA 2023 compliance in some MDAs, while records management practices vary across institutions, highlighting areas requiring attention.

She said the visits are not one-time inspections, with ICTA tracking identified gaps, guiding MDAs on compliance, and maintaining contact through designated ICT focal persons.

As the assessments continue, the findings are helping the ICT Agency prioritise support, training, and other interventions, while building a broader scorecard for digital maturity across Anambra’s government.
