The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the official list of candidates for the forthcoming Anambra Senatorial elections, with Victor Chukwunonyelum Umeh of the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) among those cleared to contest for the Anambra Central Senatorial District.
The list, published by the electoral commission, contains candidates nominated by various political parties for the three senatorial districts in the state—Anambra Central, Anambra South and Anambra North.
In Anambra Central, the candidates include Ikezuo Tochukwu Sagacious (LP), Emmanuel Butches Nwosu (ADP), Iyke Christian Onuorah (APM), Dozie Ferdinand Nwankwo (APGA), Chiedu Anthony Umeadi (YPP), Helen I. Mbakwe (ZLP), Ngozi Benedicta Kene-Chiedu (APC), Chinedu Ekwunife (SDP), Lawrence Chijioke Ughamadu (PDP), Joseph Kenechukwu Golu (NRM), Godffery Ndubuisi Nwobi (ADC), Feliz Iheanacho Sunday Chukwurah (NNPP), and Victor Chukwunonyelum Umeh (NDC).
For Anambra South Senatorial District, INEC listed candidates from 14 political parties, including Emmanuel Nwachukwu (APGA), Ikechukwu Samben Nwosu (PDP), Somto Fabian Obasi (LP), and other party nominees.
In Anambra North, the commission published the names of 15 candidates, among them Stella Ade Odua (APGA), Chinenye Edith Oliata (PDP), Tony Okechukwu Nwoye (NDC), and Godwin Ibekwe (LP), alongside candidates of other political parties.
The publication of the candidates’ list marks another milestone in preparations for the Anambra senatorial elections, with political parties and aspirants expected to intensify campaigns ahead of the polls.
The list also provides voters and stakeholders with the official roster of contestants approved by the electoral commission for the three senatorial districts.
