Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo on Wednesday hosted retiring former Anambra State Police Commissioner, AIG Ikioye Orutugu.
Soludo hosted Orutugu during the Anambra State Executive Council meeting, praising him before key government officials for his time as commissioner of police in the state.
Orutugu was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General (AIG), and officially retired on Wednesday.
Soludo lauded Orutugu for his unwavering commitment, professionalism, and tactical leadership in maintaining law and order throughout his time at the helm of the Anambra State Police Command.
“Your fight against criminals who posed as freedom fighters can not go unnoticed. You collaborated with sister security agencies to get the job done.
“You played a crucial role in strengthening security architecture and fostering collaboration between the police force and the state government to safeguard lives and property,” Soludo said.
Orutugu while responding expressed gratitude to the Governor, the Executive Council, and the entire people of Anambra State for their cooperation and support.
He said their partnership during his service was reason for the success he achieved. Heattributed the successes recorded by the command to the collective resolve of security personnel and the strong backing of the state administration.
Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Chiamaka Nnake; Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Tochukwu Nweke; State Director of Department of State Services, Mr. Chuks Anukposi and the Traditional Ruler of Uke, Igwe Charles Agbala, all praised Orutugu for his works in Anambra.
