The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the November 8, 2025 Anambra State governorship election, John Chuma Nwosu, has called on governments at all levels to prioritise the welfare, education and protection of Nigerian children through increased investment in critical sectors.

Nwosu made the call in a Children’s Day message issued on Wednesday to mark the 2026 Children’s Day celebration.

In the statement, the ADC candidate described children as “the pride of today and the leaders of tomorrow,” stressing that any nation that genuinely invests in its young population is laying the foundation for a stronger and more prosperous future.

He said Children’s Day should not only be a moment of celebration but also an opportunity for reflection on society’s collective responsibility to nurture and protect children.

According to him, every child deserves access to quality education, healthcare, moral guidance and equal opportunities irrespective of social background, religion or location.

Nwosu urged children across the country to remain focused on their education and personal development, advising them not to allow present circumstances to define their future.

“To every child listening to me today, always remember that you are unique, gifted and full of limitless possibilities,” he stated.

The politician encouraged young people to embrace discipline, honesty, hard work and creativity, while also acquiring digital and technological skills needed to compete in a modern global economy.

He noted that the world is increasingly driven by science, technology and innovation, adding that Nigerian children must be adequately prepared to contribute meaningfully to national development.

Nwosu also appealed to governments to improve investment in modern learning facilities, qualified teachers, healthcare services, libraries and child protection programmes.

He said Nigerian children deserved safe schools and opportunities that would prepare them for future challenges.

The Ex-ADC governorship candidate further warned children against involvement in violence, crime, drug abuse and cultism, urging them instead to uphold values of integrity, compassion and love for humanity.

He commended parents, teachers, caregivers and faith-based organisations for their sacrifices towards the upbringing and development of children, describing their efforts as critical to building a responsible and progressive society.

Nwosu prayed for God’s protection and blessings upon children in Nigeria and across the world as they marked the 2026 Children’s Day celebration.
