Joint security operatives raid hideouts in Ogbaru, nab 3 involved in US convoy attack

Several criminal camps were on Tuesday raided by the Security operatives in Anambra state during a joint-task-force operation in Ogbaru, Anambra State.

Recall that no fewer than seven lives were lost in the gruesome attack by gunmen on a convoy of the United States’ embassy officials in the area early in the month.

The Tuesday joint operation, a source who pleaded anonymous because he was not authorized to address the press, said was led by the Commander of naval base Onitsha.

The source said the Navy Commander was accompanied in operation by the Commissioner of Police in the State, the Commandant of NSCDC and Anambra Commander of NDLEA.

The source said four notorious leaders/commanders of the Biafra agitators in Ogbaru LGA were arrested during the raid.

The source said those arrested during the raid included husband and wife and two others(names withheld),

The source further said, “Three of the arrested persons were reportedly part of the attack on US convoy in ogbaru three weeks ago.

Sources privy to the JTF operations disclosed that those arrested were among those terrorizing various communities in the area

“The communities expressed satisfaction at the efforts of the security operatives whose efforts have immensely contributed to the security of life and property in the area.”
