~ Monarch pledges to unite community

Adazi-Ani Ancient Kingdom has crowned HRH Igwe Benson Chinedu Madubuko as the traditional ruler.
This followed close to one year of supplications and pleadings by people of the community for him to take up the position.
Madubuko, a popular businessman and philanthropist based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was crowned last weekend at Adazi-Ani townhall in an elaborate ceremony that attracted several dignitaries across Nigeria.
The community had come together to choose Madubuko as their king, a gesture he earlier rejected, showing no interest until after a year of persistent pleading by prominent individuals in the community, before he acceded to their request.
Speaking shortly after he was crowned, the monarch pledged not to disappoint the community, but to unite all indigenes and ensure that everyone is carried along and not left behind.
Madubuko said: “We have information that no town has had a smoother coronation than what we have just had at Adazi-Ani today. The reason is because we have laid down rules of how kings are crowned.
“It was a difficult situation as I was approached severally to become the king, but I had no interest. The town decided to seek the face of God and the revelation was that I will be the king, so I had no option than to accept it.
“Today, having been crowned, I promise that since we have agreed that we will build our town, I shall ensure that the town in built. I will bring out my heart and any wealth I have, to work for the community.
“I will administer this community like my personal business and my immediate family because no one would want their families to be in crisis.
“To you the traditional rulers of Anaocha Local Government Area, I am now your member and I will respect your rules. Same for Anambra traditional rulers council. We will contribute our quota to make sure Anambra moves forward. To all Adazi-Ani people, I pledge to ensure unity in our community.”
The event was witnessed by several dignitaries including Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, former governors; Mr Peter Obi and Dr Chris Ngige, and several other dignitaries, especially captains of industries across the country.
