Disturbed by the omission of his name from the list of House of Representatives aspirants under the APGA cleared to participate in the party’s primary election in Ogbaru Federal Constituency, Zeribe Ezeanuna has petitioned the National Chairman of the party, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, seeking a fair hearing and the inclusion of his name among cleared aspirants.
It was gathered that Ezeanuna’s name was absent from the list of aspirants cleared by the party’s screening committee.
In a three-page petition made available to journalists, Ezeanuna urged the national leadership of the party to set aside the decision of the screening panel and direct the immediate inclusion of his name, arguing that his omission was not justifiable under the party’s guidelines.
The petition reads in part:
“Your Excellency, the National Chairman of our great party, sir, my attention has been drawn to the unjustifiable omission of my name from the list of aspirants cleared by the screening panel for the APGA primary election into the House of Representatives for Ogbaru Federal Constituency.
“The omission of my name came to me as a rude shock, as I was duly screened alongside two other aspirants, namely Hon. Chukwuka Onyema and Mr. Chris Nwokedi, on Monday, May 11, 2026. During the screening exercise, I was merely asked to introduce myself and make opening remarks, after which I was asked to bow and leave upon stating that I have been a pioneer member of APGA in Ogbaru since 2002.
“If there was any petition or allegation against me, I was never informed, nor was I given the opportunity for a fair hearing to defend myself or respond, which is a fundamental principle of justice and internal democracy. I hereby demand to be furnished with reasons for my non-clearance alongside others.
“Your Excellency, I remain deeply shocked by this development because I possess a longstanding and verifiable record of commitment, loyalty, and sacrifice towards the growth and sustenance of APGA since 2002, unlike some of the aspirants who were recently admitted into the party.
“From 2002 until sometime in 2009, I personally funded party activities in Ogbaru with the support of my late father. I also made my hotel facility available for party use free of charge, a gesture that continues to date. Over the years, I have continued to support and sponsor APGA activities and have assisted many party members in attaining elective positions, yet I have not benefited from the same support despite my sacrifices.
“For your information, Hon. Chukwuka Onyema, who was cleared, only recently defected from the PDP into APGA a few weeks ago. To the best of my knowledge, no waiver was publicly granted to him, despite the constitutional requirement on the duration of membership before contesting elections under the party’s platform.
“Similarly, Mr. Chris Nwokedi, who was also cleared, contested as the chairmanship candidate under the Edozie Njoku faction of APGA during the last local government election in Anambra State. This raises serious concerns regarding dual membership and loyalty to the authentic leadership of APGA, especially as our party constitution does not encourage or permit conflicting allegiance.
“In view of the foregoing, I passionately appeal that you use your good office to immediately order the inclusion of my name among the cleared aspirants for the APGA primary election for Ogbaru Federal Constituency. I remain a genuine, loyal, and longstanding member of APGA who has consistently laboured for the progress, unity, and electoral success of our great party.
“I trust in your commitment to justice, fairness, and internal democracy.”
