Mrs. Chinenye Nnubia, the headmistress of community primary school, Ugamuma, Obosi, has cried out for help regarding the bad state of the school’s classroom blocks.
She bared her mind about the egregious condition of the school when she conducted this information officer round the school on May 6, 2026.
Nnubia lamented that the school had fallen into a state of disrepair, recalling that it was founded in 1947; and that it has produced personages, who are making contributions for our societal development.
“This is a mission-public school that was built in 1947. And it has produced illustrious people, who are making contributions for our country’s development.
“But this school, which they attended many years ago, is dilapidated, now, with its aluminum roofs looted, and the water-soaked-ceilings caving in.
“And vandals and criminals had stolen the classroom blocks’ windows. As a result, the school buildings have gaping holes, which make them, unsightly,” Nnubia lamented.
More so, the headmistress complained that her office is not fit to be called an office because it is bare of pieces of furniture and its floor is not fitted with tiles.
She further stated that both teachers and pupils go outside the school premises to search for water since no borehole is sunk in the school.
And according to her, there are not enough chairs for teachers who teach in the school. Owing to that, the teachers in the school do lean on doors or windows during school hours, which robs them of their dignity.
Then, as the problems besetting the school have made it not to be salubrious for learning, Mrs Nnubia has called on the government and wealthy Obosi indigenes to fix the school’s problems.
” I am begging the government and wealthy Obosi indigenes to hearken to our cries for help.
“The roofs of the classroom blocks’ should be re-roofed to protect the school pupils from suffering the adverse effects of the elements.
“And the iron windows, which are looted, should be replaced.
“And we need more chairs and tables for the teachers,” Nnubia said.
And Mrs. Nnubia concluded by saying that the school needed security personnel who would keep watch over the school to prevent vandals and burglars from entering it.
