Presidency did not endorse Ekwunife over Umeh – Obele

The Director General of Chief Victor Umeh Campaign Organisation and a respected human rights activist, Barr Obele Chuka has dismissed claims in certain quarters in Anambra State that the wife of the president, Dame Patience Jonathan has endorsed Hon Uche Ekwunife as the candidate for senate in the Anambra Central. Obele who though refused to mention the name of the candidate purportedly endorsed said, that a certain female candidate of a political party had been alleged to have been anointed by the Presidency as the next senator for the district, but the claim is malicious and defamatory to the first family of the country. He threatened to take appropriate action on the issue at the right time when he must have gotten sufficient information about the said malicious claim. The former Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) , Onitsha branch chairman described Chief Victor Umeh, as Igbo candidate for the eighth senate of the federal Republic of Nigeria, saying that his contributions in the last national conference stands him out. He urged every Igbo to be part of the commitment to deliver the APGA Chief to the National Assembly, saying that he came into Umeh’s campaign by act of personal conviction that he (Umeh) is the best candidate for the job at this moment in history. He said ‘’ this man smells Igbo; sleeps Igbo, dresses Igbo and thinks Igbo and so nobody can give us better representation than he can do.” The former NBA chairman rather restated that Umeh’s outing in the National Conference showcased him as the senator Ndigbo would need in the red Chamber to prosecute the creation of additional state(s) in the south-east and other matters thereto as recommended at the National Conference.
