There were fears among indigenes of Anambra State on Monday, following a video showing that the governor of the state, Prof Chukwuma Soludo was rejected entry into the state box, during the swearing in of President Bola Tinubu.

Video bandied on social media showed the moment when a DSS operatives denied Soludo entry into the state box, ordering him to go to another section of the square.

An Anambra indigene who reacted to the video said: “This is very disgraceful. How can they do this to our governor. He should have gone with his protocol to clear with them before coming, instead of bringing this humiliation upon Anambra.”

Meanwhile, the Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Christian Aburime has clarified that Soludo was duly invited to the inauguration and could not have been sent away from the state box, where dignitaries were meant to sit.

He said: “A very mischievous and misleading video is currently being circulated online by some mischief makers who derive pleasure in mis-informing the general public

“The video shows Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, arriving the Eagle Square for the Presidential swearing-in ceremony in Abuja and was subsequently being re-directed courteously by protocol officials to the rightful position reserved for him at the other side of the VVIPs sitting positions

“Redirecting invited guests to their rightful sitting position is neither an issue nor a condescending act.”

Aburime in attempt to set the record straight said Governor Soludo was one of the few Governors that was invited to witness the inauguration of President Bola Tinubu’s government, and could not have been sent away.

He called on the members of the public to disregard the video, saying it was meant to misinform the people.
