Tension as CP visits Palace of Slain monarch, promises to arrest killers

The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Tony Olofu, has assured the arrest of killers of a deposed traditional rulers in the state, Chief Alex Edozieuno.

Alex Edozieuno, (62) and his driver, one Chukwuemeka, were killed by suspected gunmen on Friday along Ezu Bridge, Otuocha in the Anambra East Local Government Area of the state.

He was among the 13 monarchs suspended last year for visiting the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), in Abuja with oil mogul, Prince Arthur Eze, without authorisation by the state government.

He was later dethroned by the state government alongside three others.

The Anambra State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Basil Ejidike, in a joint press conference on Sunday with the Director General of Andy Uba Campaign Organisation, Paul Chukwuma , had described the monarch’s death as “political killing”.

The CP who led some senior officers from the command to the palace of late monarch in Aguleri to commiserate with the family, said the perpetrators of dastardly act would not go unpunished.

He said,”I want to assure all of you that the police command shall leave no stone unturn to unravel the circumstances surrounding the gruesome murder of the late HRH Igwe Alex Edozieuno, arrest the perpetrators and bring them to book”.

Responding, the son of the slain monarch, Chinedu Edozieuno, thank the Commissioner and his team for their efforts and concern over the incident.
