UNIZIK Welcomes Fresh Undergraduates, Warns Against Cultism Exam Malpractice, Other Vices

Fresh undergraduate students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University were officially matriculated into the institution on Friday, marking the formal end of the 2024/2025 admission exercise.
The ceremony, held at the university’s various faculties, was attended by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof Joseph Ifeanyichukwu Ikechebelu.
In his address, Prof Ikechebelu congratulated the matriculating students on their admission into the university, highlighting Nnamdi Azikiwe University’s competitive admission process and renowned academic excellence.
He emphasized the importance of academic excellence, urging students to attend lectures regularly and avoid vices such as examination misconduct, certificate forgery, and cultism .
The university has taken a strong stance against these vices, with recent cases of dismissal, suspension, and demotion of staff members involved in misconducts .
As part of his vision for the university, Prof Ikechebelu outlined plans to beautify, light up, and digitize the campus, ensuring the safety and security of students and staff.
He encouraged the fresh undergraduates to work hard, stay focused, and make the most of their time at the institution.
The matriculation ceremony marked the beginning of an exciting academic journey for the fresh undergraduates, and the university community looks forward to witnessing their growth and success.
