The senatorial aspiration of Hon Ferdinand Dozie Nwankwo, APGA senatorial candidate for Anambra Central Zone, received a major boost today when women representatives from across the seven local government areas of Anambra Central Senatorial Zone endorsed him.
At the event which took place at Hon. Ferdinand Dozie Nwankwo Centre for Development and ICT, Abagana, the women said their decision to support Nwankwo, popularly known as Onyendozi, was because of his past interventions of over two decades that had been aimed at bettering the lives of women and the less privileged.
According to the leader of the women, Hon. Njideka Oraedum, a former MD of Anambra Waste Management Agency, ASWAMA, Nwankwo had been a source of joy to many women, both before and during his time as a House of Representatives member, reason the women resolved to back him throughout the campaign and vote for him on election day.
Her words, ‘Hon. Dozie Nwankwo is a philanthropist of exceptional character who has used his legislative role to improve the lives of his constituents.’
Mrs Oraedum said it was now time for the women of the constituency to repay Nwankwo’s efforts by backing him all the way.
Speaking at the event, the Mayor of Anaocha, Hon. Rome Ibekwe, commended the women for their endorsement and urged them to remain steadfast in taking the Onyendozi message to the grassroots.
Ibekwe described women as key pillars of societal development and stressed the importance of greater female participation in politics.
For his part, the Chairman-elect of Njikoka LGA, Hon. Ikechukwu Okakpu, hailed the women for uniting behind Nwankwo’s candidacy and urged them to spare no effort in promoting APGA’s message across the zone.
This was even as the women resolved in unison to give their unalloyed support to Nwankwo to secure victory for him and his party, APGA at all levels in the upcoming elections.
The event was graced by such dignitaries as the Njikoka APGA LG Chairman, Hon. Pharm. Chinedu Anaekwe; APGA State Women’s Leader, Mrs. Chinwe Umerie; Hon. Chikodili Afamefuna; former commissioners; among others.
