Probe our kinsman, Master Holdings, over failed road, Enugwu Ukwu tells govt

Project

By Our correspondent

The people of Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, have called on the Anambra State Government to probe an indigenous contractor from the area, Master Holdings, over what they called the quick dilapidation of the Nkwo Enugwu-Ukwu link road.

The road, our correspondent gathered leads to the Enugu-Onitsha expressway.

Some stakeholders of the community told our correspondent that the road which was done less than three years ago under the Governor Willie Obiano administration, had already collapsed.

One of them said, “Different portions of the road had failed despite not being a busy road”.

Speaking to our Correspondent, a road user, Mr. Chinedu Akunna expressed shock over the poor state of the road which he claimed clearly pointed to the fact that the contractor cut corners.

“The contractor clearly shortchanged the people of the state and the state government in delivering the road,” Akunna said

Contributing, some residents of the area, Mr. Anselm Nwosu and Mrs. Cecilia Ubani described the state of the road as total wickedness.

They said since the road project was handled by an indigenous contractor from the community, they had expected a standard road project that would last.

They therefore asked the state government to order Master Holdings back to site to do the road according to specification.
