The Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU, has cleared 14 aspirants to contest the Chairperson position of Nnamdi Azikiwe University ASUU-NAU
The aspirants were cleared by the Electoral Screening Committee, headed by Comrade Tochukwu Orji-Okafor, Convener, ASUU-NAU Electoral Committee and the Zonal Coordinator, ASUU Owerri Zone, Comrade Uzor Onyebimama.
The aspirants are vying to replace,Prof Steve Ufoaroh, whose tenure comes to an end in July, 2023 .
They are, Okenwa CY Ogbodo, Peter Okoye ,Uboji Kingsley, Uju Ezenekwe, Etega Harrison
Darlington N. Onyejike, Joseph C. Senator Onyejiaka
Others are, Osita Nnajiofor, Okegbe Theophilus O., Amaka Metu ATM, Nnubia Innocent, Chinenye Okey-Onyesolu, Tonia Chigbo Obasi
and Gideon Ezu
However, among the candidates, The Razor gathered that the School’s Management, is interested in two candidates.
The candidates according to further investigations, are Dr Uju Ezenekwe and Okenwa CY Ogbodo.
The Razor ,also gathered that majority of the ASUU-NAU members are rooting for Prof Kingsley Uborji, the development ,it was learnt , had not gone down well with the Management.
The ASUU-NAU election had been slated for next month July.
